I need to get my clay creations out of the house soon or I will drown in them. But until I manage that, I had to un-clutter my house, somehow. Hence, this beautiful wood shelving. Wood from Thor’s hammer, decorative brackets and some wood working resulted in this:
I will have a stall with my latest tableware and some decorative items as well, at the Dairy Road market. Please mark the day: 6th November 2022 from 10am to 2pm.
It is part of Design Canberra festival and promises to be a happy and festive event with live music food and drink trucks and hopefully nice weather.

Working with clay in this cold weather is almost unthinkable. So instead I knit. I have gone from wearable to accessories. Less measurements and less reasons to unravel what is already knitted. And as usual not much for words. Let the craft speaks.
I finely got around to cleaning and sanding the bottoms of these ones. Very happy with the glazes combinations.
This will be a story told over a few posts. It is so cold and windy here that it is painful to take photos outside. Indoor photos do not do justice to theses ones.
Woodfiring is exciting and unpredictable. Usually a two day event, this time packing the kiln was done in one day thanks to some really determined and organised people (not me 😀 )

The month before the annual communal wood firing is my busiest month in the year. I have made a few new vessels inspired by my visit to the Israel Museum last time I visited Jerusalem. A few images of the vessels that inspired me and a few image of the vessel that came from under my hands.
I love the colours that the chemicals and food scraps leave on my pots. A few examples of what goes inside the clay pods I encase them with.

The first firing didn’t go so well so I had to raise the temperature and do it all again. This time with glorious results. I am so happy with the way the colours came out I would like to share them with you…..
And some mugs less colourful. I can’t imagine my coffee in a bright blue mug….. can you?
Next week is my first reduction firing after almost 3 years. I hope I still remember how to do it….. For those of you who are not potters reduction firing means you deprive the kiln of oxygen while firing so that the charachter of the glaze and the clay change as a result. I really love the affects of reduction firing but they are very difficult to control. Maybe that is why I like it. Control is not my thing…..
