My name is Galia Shy.

I live in a small town near Canberra, Australia’s capitol.

I need to keep my hands busy so a lot of hand made artefacts are accumulating in my house. Samples of all the thing I make or used to make are on this page.

My affair with arts started during my Ph.D studies when my therapist recommended it as a way to release stress and control my anxiety levels. 

I have tried drawing and painting, adopted glass as a material of choice however when I came across clay, a couple of year ago, it became clear to me that I have found my home. 

As a past scientist I was extremely happy to find that working with clay is a grand playground for experiments. Clay lets one feel like you have some control over it but it never gives itself completely. Glazes, the next step in the process are even less predictable. 

I love that anticipation, after the kiln is closed off and left to cool and the excitement of opening the door to find  what the kiln gods have created. Something different, every time. 

Even though my main craft now is pottery, this page helps explains why I called my website G.Shy Crafts.
